The painting is actually a 48" x 48' square painted within the 4' x 6' shape, with an earth-green area painted in below the square shape.
It can hang as is, without a frame, as it is painted around the sides, and can have a foam core backing made with hooks and braided wire (like Magnolia Sunrise), or, it can be framed as a 48" square with size of frame added.
The artists feels that the bigness of the painting requires the whole 4' x 6' shape to contain it and display it, and it needs the earth-green area to set off the freshness of the colors. It is painted as inspired by Matisse and the high contrast series of works done in the French Riviera Studio wherein he built a stage like this artist has in Church Studio, and painted model into square shapes with still life objects and panels of brightly colored fabrics on the stage. |
